Forest Bathing

Shinrin-yoku is a term that means "taking in the forest atmosphere" or "forest bathing." It was developed in Japan during the 1980s and has become a cornerstone of preventive health care and healing in Japanese medicine.

Forest bathing uses mindfulness and meditation techniques to open all five senses and connect with nature as a healing tool. Participants are guided on how to slow down, disconnect from technology, and take a break from life’s daily stressors.

From a scientific perspective, forest bathing has been shown to relieve stress & anxiety, decrease depression, reduce blood pressure, improve sleep quality, and strengthen the immune response. Similar to yoga and meditation, it is a benefit to practice forest bathing with a group and be guided by a trained professional. After learning some basic principles, forest bathing can be practiced regularly on your own.

Jenny is absolutely incredible. My knowledge of forest bathing was minimal before meeting Jenny, but the anticipation of experiencing it for the first time with her was exhilarating! Jenny's wealth of expertise in eco-therapy and the history of forest bathing, coupled with the educational component and research she shared during the class, added a fascinating layer to the entire experience. Her insightful context made the class truly captivating.

Throughout the session, Jenny guided us with a comforting, warm, and open demeanor. She consistently checked in on our well-being, creating a safe and welcoming space. Engaging in conversation with her during the experience was delightful. The class not only left me enamored, but it also sparked a desire to incorporate forest bathing into my daily routine. Jenny's passion for what she does is evident, and I am eager to join her again for another enriching forest bathing session.
